Chris! Bronx is awesome! You're awesome! Everything is awesome! No, this isn't The LEGO movie but if they made a movie about your life it could be done with LEGO and it would be awesome! Thank you so much for answering my questions. You're a real-life superhero. I'm so glad to become acquainted with you, Bronx, and your organization. I'm keeping you in my prayers, buddy. May the Lord continue to use you to draw more people to Him. I've posted the interview here: http://jesusgeek.info/chris-carswell Cheers, John Wilkerson "Armor of God" is now available!!!! We were pleased to see so many students nominated this year. Thanks to the support of caring individuals like yourself, we had many outstanding candidates to select from. Kohl’s salutes the volunteer efforts of youth and wishes to encourage all students to continue making contributions within their communities. The 2014 Kohl’s Cares local winners have now been selected and may be viewed at kohls.scholarshipamerica.org/winners.php. "Due to all the issues expressed earlier, I would like to announce that 1B4C does NOT endorse nor have we granted ANYONE to do/perform/accept donations on our behalf. ANYONE wishing to support Chris and 1Boy4Change, please do so by submitting the donation DIRECTLY TO CHRIS AND 1BOY4CHANGE. We have too many people performing fundraisers to pay for Service Dogs In Training and Service Dogs while no income is being turned in to Chris or 1Boy4Change. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will now perform fundraisers on our own, since those we helped can't be trusted with the generosity they receive from supporters and followers." P.S. IF you are found to have hosted a fundraiser on behalf of Chris Carswell/1B4C in any capacity...we will seek punitive damages. We are too good to you to steal from a 15 year old that gives of himself freely thru the generosity of others. The Southeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross presented Chris Carswell (Founder and Jr. CEO of 1Boy4Change) with the prestigious "Youth Hero" Award for 2014 for his volunteer and program efforts helping U.S. Military, Veterans, special need children and police K9 teams across the nation! Deputy Kyle Pagerly was shot and killed while serving a warrant as part of a fugitive task force at a home on Pine Swamp Road in Albany Township. When task force members arrived at the scene the suspect ran into the woods. Deputy Pagerly a...nd his K9 pursued the suspect. When officers located him he opened fire with an AK-47, striking Deputy Pagerly under the arm in the side of his vest. Other officers returned fire and killed the subject. After Deputy Pagerly was struck, his K9 ,"Jynx", tried to pull Kyle to safety by dragging him out of the line of fire. Investigation revealed that the suspect had written a suicide note two days earlier and it is believed that he shot Deputy Pagerly in his attempt to commit suicide-by-cop. Deputy Pagerly was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Deputy Pagerly was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Berks County Sheriff's Department for five years. He also served with the Spring Township Fire Department and at the time of the incident was deputized as a special deputy with the U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force. He is survived by his wife, daughter and parents. The funds raised were donated to 1Boy4Change.org so Chris could purchase “heat alarm” systems for police K9 teams that otherwise would go without this life saving equipment! THANK YOU to everyone that supports the Kyle Pagerly Memorial events! “SEVEN” heat alarms will be purchased through American Aluminum Accessories Inc. because of a Hero’s Legacy! Chris will be honored at the Youth Heroes Breakfast on Friday, April 11, 2014!"We would like to identify and recognize youth heroes who have honorably chosen to give back to their community through volunteering for any agency, organization, church or other charity."
The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Volunteers make up more than 95% of the Red Cross workforce and we could not accomplish our work without them. I know that I speak for us all when I say that there would be no charitable agencies anywhere without dedicated volunteers. A study of youth development indicates that youth volunteers are twice as likely to get better grades in school, 25% more likely to positively contribute to their family and community and twice as likely to continue their volunteer efforts as adults. Through volunteer initiatives, youth adopt mentors who lead by example, serve as a source of guidance and inspire young adults to achieve their goals with confidence. This is why the American Red Cross is excited host the 1st Annual Youth Heroes Awards Breakfast in Statesboro at Georgia Southern University on Friday, March 7th and the 2nd Annual Youth Heroes Awards Breakfast at Savannah State University on Friday, April 11th. During the awards breakfast, we will also honor two local community leaders, Chris Yaughn from Fostering Bulloch at the Statesboro event and Cathy Hill, Vice President of Georgia Power Coastal Georgia Region in Savannah. Corporate, Individual, Table Sponsorships and Donations are available for both events. Please consider supporting the Youth Heroes Breakfast today!
